Our Wednesday, February 28 meeting will feature a solar eclipse talk different than many others. Rather than talk about the total solar eclipse that sweeps from Texas to Maine in April, we’ll be talking about:
Geometry of Solar Eclipses
–Why the paths are shaped as they are, why they last as long as they do, and how often does the geometry repeat itself
Science Experiments Performed During Solar Eclipses
–Eddington’s experiment, measuring the moon and sun’s size/shape, flash spectra
History of Solar Eclipses in Our Area and Lives
–Starting in 1806 to present
Eclipse Records and Oddities
–Some interesting tidbits
This meeting is open to the public. 7:30 PM, Wednesday February 28th at the Grand Canyon Regional Airport conference room. Also available remotely via Zoom.
